Northern Balta Balta fratercula Hebard, 1943
Fauna Portal species: 14531Diagnosis
(after Hebard 1943): This insect is very closely related to B. godeffroyi, differing only in having each side of the face buffy, the vertical blackish brown median area thus suggesting that of B. papua, but in the present case extending from the apex of the clypeus to the point of the least width between the eyes, above which the interocular area and occiput are buffy.
The specimen illustrated here is only tentative included in B. fratercula based on images in Rentz (2014) and pending examination of the male genitalia.

Fauna Portal Records
The map shows all records that have been verified as part of the Fauna Portal project and may not represent the true distribution of a species. Specifically, for described species, check the link to the Atlas of Living Australia on this page for potential wider distributions. Fauna Portal Reference specimens and Linnean types are shown in red. If you identified a specimen that exceeds the distribution of an undescribed species as illustrated here, please contact the Fauna Portal team who can assist with the lodgement of the specimen in a public institution and display on the map.
