Type species: Austrohorus exsul Beier, 1966
Fauna Portal Genus Number: 161
(after Beier 1966): Pedipalps and Carapace intensely reddish brown, the latter paler and yellowish basally; abdomen yellowish. Carapace one-third longer than broad, oval, smooth, with the cucullus very short, and with a broad submedian transverse furrow, the hind corners broadly rounded. Two pairs of eyes. Abdomen long, membranous. Tergites desclerotized, smooth, undivided, mostly with 6 hind-border bristles, those of the 2 ultimate segments partly very long and stout. Pleural membrane only very finely undulate-striate longitudinally. Palm of chelicera with 5 bristles, of which 2 are on the base of the fixed finger. Galea forked terminally and with short submedian branch. Pedipalps smooth, but the hand sparsely granulate medially at the base of the fingers. Dorsal trochanteral tubercle reduced. Femur abruptly pedicellate, broadest subbasally. Tibia broadest at the beginning of the ultimate third. Hand clumsy. Fingers gaping, toothed on their whole length. Distribution of tactile setae as in Pseudohorus: ist far from ib, it on the last third of the finger, moved dorsally, isb far from esb and approximated to est ; st halfway between sb and t, which is at the end of the second third of the movable finger. Telofemur of the first leg a little shorter than basifemur, but these two joints well movable together. Hind femur broadened. Tarsi 2-jointed, moderately slender, without tactile bristle. Claws simple. Arolia undivided, as long as the claws, but a little longer in the hind legs.
