Shield-backed Bugs
Scutelleridae
(after Gross 1975): The members of the Scutelleridae are for the most part tropical, brightly coloured, largish shield bugs with a greatly enlarged scutellum which covers most of the dorsum of the abdomen, leaving only the exterior base of the cerium and sometimes the tip of the membrane exposed when at rest. The species are all strongly convex above and range in outline from nearly circular to elongate oval.
