Mexican Black Scale Saissetia miranda (Cockerell & Parrott, 1899)

Diagnosis

On Barrow Island, females of S. miranda are recognised by their H-shaped sculpture dorsally. Identifications have been confirmed by 28S barcoding. Similar species are S. oleae (Olive Scale) and S. coffeae (Coffee Scale), but both do not occur on Barrow Island.
